Laya Samarpan
A tribute concert to Padma Vibhushan Ustad Zakir Hussain.
We present Indian classical music concerts, give young artists their first stage, and use music to serve society, from old age homes to drought-affected farmers.
Shadaj Graam Foundation is a non-profit on a mission to preserve and celebrate Indian classical music, and to carry it to the young people who need it most: in small towns and remote villages, far from the concert halls of big cities.
Indian classical music is one of the oldest living musical traditions in the world. Whether in the Hindustani style of the North or the Carnatic style of the South, it is built on the raga, a melodic framework that is part composition, part improvisation. For centuries it has been more than music: it is a spiritual journey that connects the performer, the listener and something higher.
Our dream is a network of “Harmony Villages” across India, where every child can find their first note.
Evenings of Hindustani and Carnatic music, bhavgeet and abhang, brought to towns and cities across Maharashtra, often for a cause.
Renowned artists and maestros perform for, and mentor, young learners, sharing the history, theory and technique behind raga music.
Working with local schools and cultural bodies to bring classical music into education, so appreciation begins early.
Our goal: training centres in villages, with experienced teachers and regular classes for hands-on learning.
Talent hunts, competitions and festivals like our annual Aarambh, where young artists step onto a real stage.
Recording and preserving regional musical traditions so that their legacy lives on for generations.
Our vision is to make Indian classical music a living part of rural India's cultural fabric, nurturing the next generation of musicians and music lovers.
